Thai PBS Director General Final Candidates announced

Yesterday (May 12th), Thai PBS Director General Selection Committee annouced the finalists results among the short-listed candidates that have delivered their vision and directions yesterday.

This is the first time that the vision statements were broadcast live, giving the public an opportunity to watch the finalists present their ideas and respond to questions—most of which focused on tackling challenges in the Thai media landscape, addressing urgent social issues, and outlining how Thai PBS will adapt to these changes. After all the finalists presented their vision statements, the selection committee selected these four candidates to move on to the final round;

1. Vanchai Tantivitayapitak, Former Senior Director of News at PPTV and Former Deputy Director General at Thai PBS, received the highest votes of 9 votes

2. Associate Professor Pattamawadee Pochnukul, Former Executive Director of the Office of Thailand Science Research and Innovation (6 votes)
3. Ratthasart Korrasud, Former Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) (5 votes)
4. Atthaporn Limpanyalert, Former Deputy Secretary of the National Health Security Office (or the NHSO) (5 votes)

Although Apirak Hanpichitwanich, Former Deputy Director of News at JKN, also a TV host at Thai PBS, did not make it to the final round. While Nopporn Wonganant, Former Editor at BBC Thai has decided to withdraw himself from the selection process.

In the final round, the selection committee will submit their list of final-round candidates to the Thai PBS Board of Governors for consideration this Friday. The new Thai PBS Director General is set to assume office on July 24th, succeeding Dr. Wilasinee Phiphitkul, whose term is coming to an end. Each term for a Director General runs for four years, but no more than two consecutive terms.
