Thai PBS and RTHK Sign MOU to Deepen Public Media Cooperation Across Content and Expertise

Thai PBS and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on media cooperation, marking a significant milestone in efforts to build meaningful partnerships with fellow public broadcasters across the region. The signing took place on 27th May 2026 at Thai PBS headquarters in Bangkok, with Thai PBS Director General Vanchai Tantivitayapitak and RTHK Director of Broadcasting Angelina Kwan officiating.

As the national public service broadcasters of Thailand and Hong Kong, respectively, Thai PBS and RTHK share a common foundation; their dedication to quality content, editorial independence and public service. This MOU formalises that shared outlook and opens the door to collaborative activities spanning content exchange, co-production and journalistic expertise.

Speaking at the ceremony, Director General Vanchai described the agreement as carrying significance beyond its formal scope.

This MoU reflects a shared commitment to public service, professional journalism and the responsibility to provide reliable information to our audiences… These areas of cooperation will enable us to learn from each other, support one another and create content that brings greater value to our audiences in Thailand, Hong Kong and beyond.

Under the agreement, the two organisations will pursue co-production and content exchange across a broad range of formats, while also exploring emerging areas of collaboration, including AI-driven content and broadcasting. The partnership will further enable the exchange of technical expertise and professional knowledge between both organisations.

The delegation then visited the Digital Media Department, where they received a presentation on Thai PBS's public media services across multiple online platforms, including the website, mobile application, social media, and the use of AI technology to improve the audience's experience. This was followed by a behind-the-scenes tour of the live news programme, offering an opportunity to observe key tools used in visual and video content creation, as well as the Master Control Room (MCR), where the delegation gained insight into the production team's broadcast operations.

For Thai PBS, this partnership reflects our broader vision of growing a trusted network of public media partners united by the values of accurate, responsible and impactful broadcasting.
Thai PBS looks forward to bringing that vision to life through the work ahead.
