Showcasing ‘Thai PBS Verify’ media literacy initiative at the 2025 ABU General Assembly in Mongolia

The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) held its 62nd General Assembly and Associated Meetings from September 11th to 15th, 2025, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on the theme of “The Role of Media in Safeguarding National & Cultural Heritage.”
The annual gathering brought together broadcasters and media professionals from across the globe to share insights, exchange best practices and explore the future of television, radio and digital media.
Thai PBS actively contributed to the event, with two representatives presenting key initiatives that reflect the organisation’s commitment to innovation, collaboration and public service media.

Thai PBS Verify: Countering Disinformation with AI

Ms. Kanokporn Prasitphol, Director of the Digital Media Centre, was invited to speak at two sessions: the Broadcasting for All Forum on “Countering Disinformation and Building AI Literacy” and the Members Showcase on “Leveraging Digital Platforms to Enhance Digital Literacy.”
She highlighted ‘Thai PBS Verify’, the organisation’s fact-checking initiative, which combines the use of professional verification with artificial intelligence tools to empower audiences against misinformation. Her presentations also showcased other Thai PBS innovations, such as ‘The Visual’ and ‘Big Sign’, which enhance accessibility, engagement and trust in the media.

Expanding Collaboration in Audio Media

Mr. Sopit Wangvivatana, Manager of Audio Media at Thai PBS, joined the Radio Working Party, where representatives from member broadcasters shared experiences and discussed emerging trends in radio and audio platforms. The session also served as a forum in which to explore new opportunities for co-production, content sharing and collaborative projects among ABU members in the audio sector.

Strengthening Thai PBS’s Global Role

Participation in the ABU General Assembly reinforces Thai PBS’s role, as Thailand’s public service broadcaster, on the international stage. By presenting its initiatives in media literacy, fact-checking and digital innovation, as well as engaging in radio and audio collaborations, Thai PBS continues to contribute to the global dialogue on the future of public media.
