The Thai Public Broadcasting Service (Thai PBS) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the China Media Group to promote collaboration and exchanges in content, personnel and technology between the two organizations.
The MOU was signed by Thai PBS Director General Wilasinee Phiphitkul and CMG Director Shen Haixiong in Beijing on Thursday. It was one of the documents signed between Thailand and China during the official visit to Beijing of Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra. The signing was witnessed by Prime Minister Paetongtarn and Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang during a ceremony at the Great Hall of the People.
CMG is one of the world’s largest media conglomerates. It was formally created in 2018 through the merger of China Central Television (incorporating China Global Television Network), China National Radio, and China Radio International.

Thai PBS and CMG consider the MOU to be an instrument to help “strengthen exchanges and cooperation between Thailand and China, enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples, and boost the comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership between Thailand and China.”
“Thai PBS has a mission to help connect Thailand with the world through our content and cooperation with international media organizations,” said Wilasinee.
She said as Thailand and China celebrate the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship, cooperation between Thai PBS and CMG should play an important role in further enhancing understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
She said since its inception in 2008, Thai PBS has been working to broaden cooperation in areas of content and technology with international media organizations, aligning with its mission to foster understanding between the Thai people and the global community.
Over the past several years, Thai PBS has entered into content exchange agreements with several major international broadcasters. Among them are Prasar Bharati of India, SBS of Australia, PTS of Taiwan, DW of Germany and RT of Russia.
