Thai PBS Welcomes NHK Executives from Japan and Exchange Discussion Towards Sustainable Public Media

On April 17, 2024, the Thai Public Broadcasting Service (Thai PBS) led by Assoc. Prof. Wilasinee Phiphitkul, Thai PBS Director General, and other executives, warmly welcomed a delegation from Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK). The visitors include Mr. Toru Okusa, a member of NHK’s Board of Governors and a full-time member of the Audit Committee, Ms. Maki Miyawaki, Senior Manager of the Secretariat for the Audit Committee, and Mr. Hiroshi Shimazaki, Head of NHK General Bureau for Asia, based in Thailand. This visit allowed the executives to familiarize themselves with their Thai counterparts during their trip to Thailand.

The meeting facilitated a fruitful exchange of discussion, knowledge, and practices on operating as sustainable public media that benefits society. Thai PBS had the opportunity to learn from NHK’s over 97 years of experience as a vital public media institution serving the nation and its people, maintaining an exemplary standard throughout its history. In turn, NHK gained insights into Thai PBS’s ethical framework and the editorial independence it has upheld over its 16 years as Thailand’s first public broadcaster.
