The 38th Thai King’s Cup Sepak Takraw 2025: Thai PBS Champions Soft Power with a Tech-Driven Bi-lingual Live Broadcast 22-27 JULY

Thai PBS has joined forces with the Takraw Association of Thailand and a network partners, to prepare cutting-edge technology and provide bilingual commentary (Thai-English), aimed at elevating the sepak takraw competition to an audience of sports fans around the world, with the live broadcast of ‘Cheer for Thailand in the 38th Thai King’s Cup Takraw Competition’ from July 22-27, live from Hat Yai Hall, 5th floor, CentralPlaza Hat Yai, Songkhla Province.

On July 15th, 2025, the Public Broadcasting Service of Thailand (Thai PBS), working with the Takraw Association of Thailand, the Sepak Takraw Federation (ISTAF), the Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organisation and network partners, announced their cooperation in broadcasting the Sepak Takraw World Championship.

The 38th Thai King's Cup 2025, or The ISTAF World Sepaktakraw Championship, involving 18 international teams at Thai PBS, which will be held from July 22nd-27th, 2025, will be broadcast live on the online platforms of Thai PBS and VIPA.me

The 38th King's Cup Sepak Takraw World Championship 2025 is a team sepak takraw competition, with leading national teams from South Korea, Laos, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, Vietnam, India, Myanmar, Thailand, Pakistan, Iran, Bangladesh, Australia, Nepal, Taiwan, Sri Lanka and France taking part, featuring more than 500 athletes and coaching staff. This year, the competition was held in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province
The goal is to expand the sport’s fan base in the province.
In line with the policy of promoting the city as a sports hub, it also presents an opportunity to elevate sepak takraw to the international level, thereby promoting tourism.

The event was attended by Mr. Anupong Chaiyarithi, Deputy Director General of Thai PBS, Mr. Thana Chaiprasit, President of the Takraw Association of Thailand, Mr. Somporn Chaibangyang, Honorary Advisor to the Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organisation, Mr. Boonchai Lopipat, President of the International Sepak Takraw Federation (ISTAF) and Mr. Supoj Tumpracha, Director of the Sports Excellence Development Department, who confirmed the readiness of all sectors that will jointly organise the live broadcast of the competition for a global audience.

 

 

Mr. Anupong Chaiyariti said, “In 2025, this is the first time that Thai PBS has been honoured to broadcast a sepak takraw competition at the international level. Thai PBS views this as a good opportunity to develop its potential in live broadcasting. Full clarity and readiness are provided by various technologies, such as augmented reality (AR) technology, to combine and present the competition details during the live broadcast. Modern CG has more features to amaze the audience.”

“We enhance the enjoyment of watching the live broadcast to the fullest with dual-language commentary, featuring both Thai and English, catering to viewers from all countries,” he added.
