Veteran environmental journalist Vanchai Tantivitayapitak has been chosen as the new director general of the Thai Public Broadcasting Service (Thai PBS).
Vanchai, 65, was one of the three finalists in the selection of the head of Thailand’s leading public broadcaster by its Board of Governors on Thursday.
His previous careers include serving as secretary general of the 'Seub Nakhasathien Foundation', a non-governmental organization dedicated to environmental and wildlife protection, and as editor of 'Sarakadee' magazine.
A recipient of the 'Sriburapha Award' in recognition of his writing, Vanchai also previously served as a deputy director general of Thai PBS before becoming the news director of PPTV, a Thai commercial broadcaster.
He said he will utilize his experience to help strengthen the content of Thai PBS, enhance staff well-being, and promote justice and good governance within the organization.
Vanchai will succeed Wilasinee Phiphitkul, whose current term will end on July 23.
