THAI PBS JOINED INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL IN TURKEY
As the sole public broadcaster in Thailand, Thai PBS was invited to participate in the 23rd April International Children’s Festival taken place in April 16– 24, 2012 in the city of Konya, Turkey.

Since 1979, Turkish Radio and Television (TRT) has been celebrating the Festival of National Sovereignty and Children by bringing together the world’s children to share their culture and creativity. To date, more than 20,000 children from a hundred countries took participation in one of Turkish biggest festivals. This year, the event took place in Konya, one of the country’s oldest residential sites known as a center of various civilizations in the history.

The festival attracted more than 400 children and media journalists from 42 countries, who were warmly welcomed by primary school pupils and residents of the host city. The young participants, dressed in their national costume, joined in the Festival Parade and received by the President and Prime Minister of Turkey. In three-day gala which was open for the public, each country presented a tradition dance show reflecting their culture and traditions. The show attracted a hall full of audiences who never ceased to give loud claps and cheers. The Children’s Land was also set up for children, both local and international, to have fun and learn with a lot of activities, including art works, game grounds, concerts and simulation shows. The event finished with a grand celebration at the city’s stadium where children conveyed messages of peace and brotherhood to the entire world.

Alongside the Festival, broadcasters from different countries in Europe and Asia were invited to join in the International Short Documentary Exchange meeting organized by TRT. The theme for 2012 is “food culture.” Dozens of TV stations brought for the screening a three-minute documentary depicting traditional food recipes and the habit of eating in their country presented in children’s point of view.
