Thai PBS Wins Four Awards at the 2025 Media for Human Rights Awards

Thai PBS has been honoured with four awards at the 2025 Media for Human Rights Awards, recognising the broadcaster's outstanding journalism and documentary work shining a light on some of the most pressing human rights issues in the region.
The wins spanned three categories, from photography to print and online journalism to television documentary — reflecting the breadth and depth of Thai PBS's commitment to human rights reporting.

Photography — Theme: "Human Rights"

First Prize was awarded to photographer Thanet Saengtongsirikamol for his photo series "Life in the Unknown Land of Myanmar Workers: Ordinary Days of Chasing Dreams — for Family and Democracy." The work offers an intimate portrayal of the daily lives of Myanmar migrant workers, capturing their resilience, sacrifice, and quiet determination amid political turmoil in their home country.

A Commendation Award went to Supanat Rattanathanaprasarn for the photo series "The Right to Education That Vanished Along with the Dreams 'Pu Paen' Chose to Fold Away at the Age of 17" — a poignant visual story about a young woman whose educational aspirations were cut short, raising urgent questions about access to education and lost opportunity.

Print & Online News and Documentary

Thai PBS received a Commendation Award in the Print and Online category for the investigative piece "Tracing the Money Transfer Slips: The Myanmar Labour Exploitation Network Linked to the Junta and Grey-Area Officials" — a deep-dive investigation exposing a systematic network of migrant worker exploitation with alleged ties to military and bureaucratic interests.

Television News and Documentary

In the Television category, Thai PBS earned a Commendation Award for "Children's Lives in Temporary Shelters Following the Thai-Cambodian Border Clashes" — a documentary bringing attention to the humanitarian impact of cross-border conflict on displaced children and families.

These four awards affirm Thai PBS's ongoing mission as a public broadcaster to amplify the voices of the vulnerable, hold power to account, and bring human rights stories to audiences across Thailand and beyond.
