Claire Patchimanont, Director of Thai PBS World, welcomed Prof. Tsai Wei-chi, Deputy President of NCCU, and his delegation to the Thai Public Broadcasting Service (Thai PBS). The meeting focused on increasing the number of interns from NCCU’s College of Communication, widely regarded as Taiwan’s leading institution for communication arts and journalism.
Prof. Tsai noted that NCCU has previously sent two interns per year to Thai PBS, with ongoing collaboration. Looking ahead to 2026, NCCU plans to increase annual placements by 75%, supported by its international (English-medium) curriculum and annual scholarship schemes, which facilitate overseas internships.
Ms. Patchimanont explained that Thai PBS World currently has quite a limited annual capacity. If the number exceeds that capacity, additional students may be placed with other Thai PBS units that can support English-language supervision, to ensure quality mentorship and care. She affirmed Thai PBS’s commitment to working with NCCU to adjust internship formats appropriately, so that students gain practical exposure while developing an understanding of Thai public service media within a global context.
Beyond NCCU, Thai PBS World has hosted interns from leading Thai universities, including Stamford International University, Chulalongkorn University and Thammasat University, as well as two students from New Zealand through a partnership with the Asia New Zealand Foundation.
In addition, Thai PBS runs the Thai PBS Journalist Fellowship programme, which accepts two young journalists from the ASEAN region per year, with a total annual intake of four, to work alongside Thai PBS teams and exchange experiences in public media.
