“Thai PBS is committed to fulfilling its role as a public service media organisation, by serving as a reliable source of information and a trusted refuge for the public in an age of information overload, especially amid the ongoing information warfare related to the Thai-Cambodian border dispute, about which fake news is being widely circulated,” said Vanchai Tantivitayapitak, Thai PBS Director-General.
He further states, “One of Thai PBS’s key missions is to identify and counter fake news, disinformation and false content that spreads rapidly across social media. Through Thai PBS Verify, we aim to stop the spread of rumours, fake news, disinformation and misleading content, while helping to create a safer online space and building intellectual resilience across society.”
Ms. Kanokporn, Director of the Digital Media Department at Thai PBS, stated, “In the latest developments concerning Thailand and Cambodia, Thai PBS Verify has systematically carried out fact-checking and presented verified information through source analysis, the use of technology to verify images and videos and the clarification of distorted news in both Thai and English, to aid the public’s understanding.

The content has reached over 3.9 million people, with more than 6 million views, particularly through the Facebook page @ThaiPBSVerify.
Beyond fact-checking, to ensure that the public receives accurate and comprehensive information, Thai PBS Verify also supports increased media literacy by providing step-by-step guides on how to verify questionable content.”
How to Respond When You Encounter False or Misleading Information
When you come across questionable information—especially in times of crisis—Thai PBS Verify recommends the following steps:
- Do not share the information immediately. Take a moment to question the credibility of the content and its source.
- Examine the image or video. Check whether it has been published elsewhere or in a different context. Be particularly cautious if the content is emotionally charged, lacks a clear source or lacks supporting evidence.
- Use verification tools. Platforms such as InVID-WeVerify and Google Reverse Image Search can help you determine when and where a photo or video was originally published.
- Cross-check with reliable sources. Look for confirmation from official agencies or reputable fact-checking organizations. This can help determine whether the information has any factual basis.
